Business Description
The museum is open to the public on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 11 am to 3 pm, except holidays. Guided tours are available with reservations during the week, and can be scheduled on our website or by calling the museum.
The Petaluma Wildlife Museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization operated by high school students. The Museum houses over 9000 square feet of taxidermied animal, mineral, and fossil displays as well as live mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. Students take courses in Wildlife and Museum Management to learn about environmental education, wildlife biology, animal husbandry, and public speaking. Throughout the year, student docents are responsible for animal care, maintenance, program development, and conducting tours. For over 20 years, the Museum has guided thousands of school classes and community groups on tours conducted by high school docents and developed around California State Science Standards.
